Beautiful antique writing box / desk. Hard to find smaller size approximately 8.75" x 5.5" x 3.75" tall. Gorgeous burl wood veneer with a lovely patina. Lid has beveled edges and a porcelain knob handle. Nice dovetailed wood tray insert with 4 compartments in 3 sizes... one of the smaller compartments has a small wood block with a round hole in it; I believe this is to hold an ink vial. The tray sits halfway down leaving a large compartment underneath it to store stationary or other larger items. T is a keyhole and the locking mechanism is still intact but I have no key. T are some very small, fine cracks in the veneer but t is no missing veneer... the worst which is very minor is shown in the closeup of the corner. T is a beautiful Victorian card afixed to the inside of the lid... I believe the writing is in German. Gorgeous piece in wonderful condition! See pictures and please email if you have any questions.
