ANTIQUE PERSIAN (SERAPI-INSPIRED) HERIZ ROOM-SIZE CARPET, Northern Persia, Azerbaijan Province, 1st quarter of the 20th century. Exact size: 8'-3" x 11'-4" (252 x 346 cm). A lovely, boldly drawn, and highly decorative furnishing carpet ideal for the home or office environment having a large and effulgent gold and red pendanted medallion on a dark indigo blue field all within a red palmette border surround. This carpet has basically full pile with lower pile in the corner spandrals and one area of wear in the bottom right corner (see close up photos). The carpet has just been professionally cleaned to museum standards. The top and bottom ends are complete, but need to be sewn back secure to prevent loss and your area rug dealer or cleaner should be able to provide you with this service or I can have this accomplished by a pro repair studio in this area for a nominal charge. The side cord overcastings are complete and original. T are NO rips, holes, tears, stains, odors, moth damage, or bleeding color run. The carpet is very heavy & substantial to the handle and lies straight and flat on the floor. The corner spandrals are white on the front and oxidized down to the knot collars and light blue in color on the back. This is a sulphonic indigo dye lot.
