Antique Ca 1895 Low profile Trunk "NEVER BREAK GOLDSMITH & SONS" Original maker Label. Purchased at an estate sale in the Adirondacks after one look. Well Built Low Profile Steamer Trunk. The pine body is completely refinished of the old canvas that most of them have. Original slats are still in place and retain t patena. One has a few nicks out of it as they get from age and use. Brass buttons are original and all in place adding lots of character and charm. Lid lifters built in above the latches, always a sign of a better made trunk. All hardware is original with bulbous centers. Original end caps and leather straps in place which is rare to find. Brass plated corner hardware is quite ornate. Leather banding front to back as well as edges with tacking is in excellent shape. Trunk maintained all its patena nicks and splits that have not been altered, just the wood was refinished to look beautiful. Trunk is ready to use without doing a thing to it. Very popular for coffee tables as can be seen in many country magazines. Great for storage and display. Measures 34 1/2" by 20" deep by 12 1/2" tall. Very nice addition for your collection.
