RARE Antique Calf 1801 Lectures on Christianity Baptist Description: Lectures on Primitive Chriftianity in Doctrine, Experience, Worship, Discipline, and Manners, as it Appeared in the Church at Jerusalem, in the Time of the Apostles. Also on the Epistle to the church at Sardis and on the Faithful in the Days of Malachi. Interspersed With Notes, Reflections, and Addresses. With a View to Awaken a Becoming Zeal for the Communion of saints, in Order and Love by Benjamin Wallin. Published in 1801 by Bonsal and Niles, Wilmington. This is an extremely scarce book and author! I couldn't find any of his writings when I researched his name. Benjamin Wallin appears in the book, Baptist Hymn Writers and their Hymns by Henry Sweetser Burrage. In it the author states that Wallin was born in 1711 in Southwark, London, w his father, Edward Wallin, was a pastor at the church of Maze Pond in 1703. Benjamin was crippled as an infant through the carlessness of a nurse, and devoted his life fully to studying the scriptures. In 1780 he preached his first sermon, and in the following year became pastor of his father's church. He was honored for his many Christian virtues, until his death in 1782. He also published a volume of Evangelical Hymns in 1750. This book also has a list, about 5 pages, of subscriber's names. It is full calf leather, in good- condition. The cover has wear and rubbing at edges. Inside title page has prev. owner's incription. T is brown staining and tanning from age. Still in solid condition. This is quite a precious gem!
