Beautiful vintage hand carved wooden angel wall sconce This is an amazing old piece. Angel is carved out of a solid piece of wood ( heavy ! top of sconce is a separate piece) this ornate sconce/shelf looks to be plaster dipped and hand painted. The angel appears to have real glass eyes inset ! One of a kind piece - I 'm guessing from the victorian era or perhaps from northern Europe. I wish I knew more about it. Measures approx. 17 inches high and approx. 13 inches wide. Has an old rusty piece of wire to hang it on the back. Did I mention this is a very heavy piece?? Yes, shipping is high do to weight, I'm quoting USPS prices. Questions are welcomed! I'm helping to clean out an estate and have a bunch of other antiques listed - check them out! Paypal ONLY. Payment due within 3 days of the close of auction. PLEASE do not bid if you have less than 15 positive feedbacks. See my feedback? I LOVE Ebay - I buy and sell. I have received a multitude of questions regarding this piece and I am doing my best to try and answer each as quickly as I can. I have received a bunch of questions regarding "damage". I don't want anyone to be disappointed with their purchase. In regards to the condition of this piece:This is an old piece, and wood can split when it dries. I see 2 old splits on the back of the sconce and a few hairline, non-structural cracks on the front, neither looks to have warranted any repair or concern - but since the piece was carved and then dipped and then painted - it is *extremely* hard to see any actual "damage"...technically the entire piece is damaged (missing paint/plaster) from age and wear. This I can say: I never made any repair nor do I see any intentional repair work done to this piece. It is very solid - nothing is wobbly, katywompus, barely hanging on or about to break off. It is sound and solid . I am trying my best to honestly answer this question and I hope I have done so...but the appeal of this piece is the uniqueness, age and "wear". Wear is damage. Missing paint is wear. Yes, it is missing paint...so yes, by definition this piece is "damaged". I think the pictures make what this piece is very clear. I sincerely hope this helps. If not, please let me know and I will gladly try again :) Questions are welcomed!
