You are bidding on a Antique Federal Empire Carved Mahogany Sofa Loveseat Settee. This piece was BEAUTIFULLY made and one of the NICEST Sofas I have ever brought to market. It dates back to the EARLY 19th Century American Made Circa 1830 and is most likley New York Province and is made and all hand carved of the HIGHEST quality. This piece sits on beautifully CARVED Paw Feet with flared wings on the inside with circular carved rosettes at the center. T are paw feet at the front and back. The top rail is nicely crested with curved sides and beautifully carved Eagle heads at each side with scallop carved trim work which is beautifully recessed throughout. The arm rests are GORGEOUS and are beautifully scrolled with Ancathus leaves carved throughout the sides going along with the arms and a circular rosette carved motif at the top as shown in the photos. This piece is finished on ALL of its sides including the back so it can be placed anyw in a room. Each side also has a beautifully carved and scrolled leaf as well and ALL of the detail on this piece has beautiful dimension and depth to the detail with craftsmanship that is no longer seen today and is a FINE example of American furniture of the Earlier period of the 1800s which is very important. The upholstery has a beautiful floral decor pattern with brocade embossed trim work going throughout the edges. It has some old repairs through the years and this piece is almost 200 years old. It has a beautiful and exotic naturally figured mahogany wood grain as you can see in the pictures. We have another piece that came from the same home that is similar and ALL of these auctions start at one dollar bids with NO reserve. This can be used in a hallway or foyer, living room, study or office and anyw else throughout your home and this will make a statement in any home and is Museum Quality. This piece was VERY WELL made with quality that surpasses anything made today and is all wood construction but Please understand that this is antique so it has some minor imperfections on it with itsa ge and the upholstery needs to be professionally cleaned or recovered but overall its in excellent shape.
