Antique English Oak Bookcase Dropfront Desk Leaded Glass Beaded Trim, Carved Top, Tiger Oak, GREAT Side x Side ! This listing is for a beautiful antique English oak "side by side" desk and bookcase. It is one of the prettiest ones that I have found this year, with its leaded glass door on the left and the carved crown and ALL the beaded wood trim around the front doors and edges AND EVEN ON THE SIDE PANELS!! The bookcase/desk is very sturdy, and sits on four LARGE turned wood bun-shaped feet. It has a wonderful oak grain and lovely aged patina and would make a classic addition to any home or office, complimenting decors from traditional to Gothic, Colonial to Mission style!!! OVERALL MEASUREMENTS : 47"H x 37 ¼" x 12 ¼". LEFT SIDE : · The leaded glass door is obviously the original and quite heavy and nice, with no chips or cracks. · The lock is on the door, but I couldn't make it work - it probably needs some WD-40 and a little attention, but I decided to get it listed instead! · T are three adjustable shelves that sit on wood pegs....the shelves are the originals; however, some of the little wood pegs are replacement ones from the originals (not that it makes a difference, just mentioned for disclosure). · The inside left area is 40"H x 13 ½"W x 10 ¾" depth. RIGHT SIDE UPPER : · The drop front desk opens to a fitted interior, with six cubbyholes and 1 drawer. · The key is included and works the lock, but it really doesn't "lock" the desk lid. · Hinges hold the top open for the writing surface, which is 19" x 15". · The entire fitted area is 17"H x 19 ½" x 9 ¾". RIGHT SIDE LOWER : · The large beaded door opens to reveal an inside storage compartment with one fixed position shelf. · The lock on the door has been removed. · The inside area is 10 ¾" deep x 19 ½' wide, with 10" height below the shelf and 12" height above the shelf. NOTE: Contents of the desk ARE NOT included!! CONDITION : As noted above, the bookcase and leaded glass door are in good condition for their age, visually appealing, with normal signs of age and use, scratches, dings and other imperfections. For disclosure purposes, please note the following, although do not expect every little scratch to be specifically listed!!-- The beaded trim is mostly intact, with just a few little sections missing, as commonly found with beaded trim these days! The front right foot has been chipped on the outside edge - looks like it was pushed up too close against something, and the back right foot has been rubbed similarly as well. They are sturdy and strong and support the bookcase properly, and this is just a disclosure point. The right side has a slight separation or actually a small flaw in the wood plank; it is very very old and does not harm the structural integrity of the piece. The lower left side has a slight separation at the bottom; it is an old one and isn't going to move or harm the structure of the bookcase. The back is the original, although it is a thinner wood board than the oak panels that make up the rest of the bookcase!! As with all my furniture, I make careful selection of quality pieces and provide multiple photos and written information. But please keep in mind they are antiques with many years of age and use and will show scratching, usage marks or other imperfections. You should consider an antique piece if you value unique style, craftsmanship, and the use of quality materials. As always, I encourage you to email me with any questions you might have prior to bidding. SHIPPING: Professional packaging, shipping and insurance on this item will be 280.00 (Lower 48 states only). The item exceeds the size limitations for UPS and will be shipped UPS FREIGHT. All my antique furniture is professionally packaged for shipment by UPS, resulting in very little shipping damage in the...
