This is an unusual item!! I was told it is a very old steam iron. I don't know the age, and I don't know much about cast iron irons. T is a number on the side of it - T 18V8. It has a dragon's head on the front, and a hinge on one side to open it up. The top lifts off. The wooden handle is in good condition except that a small 1 inch piece has broken off at the back (hardly noticeable). At the back of the iron t is a 1 1/2" x 2" lion's head that swings up to reveal a hole in the back of the iron (to pour water into it?). Measures 7" x 9" x 4 1/2". weighs 6-7 lbs. A really interesting piece, has been used as a doorstop. If you have any knowledge of this, please share. Buyer pays shipping, insurance and $2 packing fee. MONEY ORDER OR CHECK ONLY.
