Up for auction is a Antique Cast Iron Barn Beam Boring Machine. This boring machine measures 22 inches in length and 26 inches high in the upright position with an all cast iron frame and reversible 2 speed head. Two levers on the side of the cast iron upright release the drill from the locked up position and engage the rack to withdraw the bit. Tilts to any position and folds compactly which will aid in shipping. Cast in the upright " The Hardware Specialty Mfg Co., Sole Mfrs., Anderson, Ind". Cast on the yoke "The Boss Mch, Pat'd". Also cast on the upright are a depth scale and This mortise a decorative two headed spread-winged eagle and a star. This machine has been nicely restored as seen in the pictures. T are a couple issues that I will point out. First t is one cleats that allows the yoke slide on the cast iron upright has a chip approximately 1/8 inch. This doesn't affect the operation of the boring maching, and is hardly noticable. T is also a set screw missing from the one drill arbor. Also form the age of the machine the wooden seat has split. However, the seat is still sturdy with no movement. This boring machine with a little grease on the gears and a sharp auger it's ready for use.
