THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION FOR: GREAT Mid-1920's Cast Iron BOSTON TERRIER Door Stop with the ORIGINAL PAINT! This door stop has been owned by the same individual since the mid-1920's and he has asked me to sell it for him to help pay for medical expenses that he is incurring due to old age. When he was a small boy during the mid-1920's he asked his parents if he could have a dog. They took him to the local general store and bought him this cast iron dog and it has been in his possession ever since. When I was was talking to him he laughed and said, "My parents told me that it was a low maintenance dog. He has been my pride and joy ever since but it is time for me to pass him on to a new owner." Construction : Two piece mold. Single welded seam (The welding appears to have been done by a superior craftsman when pride in workmanship was important to an individual). Have noticed that the two piece Hubly doorstops are bolted together. This piece is far superior in construction if you compare the two. Size : Height 9-1/2" to top of the ears. Width 3" across the chest. Weight 7-1/2 lbs. Color : All paint is original The main part of the dogs body is black. His nose, collar & chest, paws, and the end of the tail are white.
