Exquisite commerical (pharmacy or grocery/candy store) scale. Cast iron with brass weights and pan. Manufactured by the H(enry) Troemner Company, Philadelphia, PA. Complete as seen. For provenance , see the text below. The antiques that I've posted this week are from my uncle's dental office in Camden, NJ. My uncle, who is now 83, is closing his dental office due to poor health. Starting in the 60's, when antiques and collectibles were easily had, my uncle started his unusual collection. He used the pieces to decorate his office as well as each patient room. The scale that you are currently viewing was found during a "discovery" trip to New Hope back in the late 1960's. The white specks that you see in the close-up photo is simply dust from being in the basement of his office. BY THE WAY... I'd like to thank everyone who has been sending e-mail inquiries as well as those watching and bidding on the auctions. My uncle has been down-and-out the past few months because dentistry was his life. To not practice his profession is very hard for him. The activity that he sees from my daily bulletins is truly lifting his spirits. At least for the moment, he doesn't feel like an old race horse taken out to pasture. I have all of you to thank for that. And since he has always been my favorite uncle, this means a lot to me too! For those of you that would like a sense of what his office looks like, below you'll find two pictures of the waiting room and a picture of the "room 2" operatory.
