Beautifully designed and made to last. This old match safe is cast iron and has an Aesthetic period decoration. Shaped like a footed blanket chest, there is a striker on the inside lid. Probably made sometime around 1870 but no marks so origin is unknown. Measures 2 7/8 inches x 5 1/4 inches and stands around 2 5/8 inches high. Has surface wear and embossed areas lightly touched lightly rust. There was probably some type of crest at the back but it was removed at some point. Even so, still makes a great functional fireplace or cast iron stove accessory.Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
