This is a lovely Antique Cast Iron Scale with gorgeous Original Factory Red Paint and Brass Pan from the late 1800's that Works Perfect. The scale is a deep rich red color. The base is clearly marked in raised letters "NO. 5". T is also a wired seal tab attached placed by inspectors long ago to guarantee accuracy. The scale has two flat round weights which are nicely designed with concentric embossed rings and 1 lb. and 2 lb. markings. Both weights have been drilled on the back for precision. The scale measures 6" high x 6" wide x 12" long at its highest, widest and longest parts. The round plate on which the weights are placed measures 5-5/8" across. The separate brass pan on the other side for placing items in to be weighed is in excellent condition with that lovely look that aged brass gets. T is some red paint loss to the scale from over the years, but t is nothing loose or flaking and together with the exposed metal, the scale shows wonderful age patina. T are no breaks, cracks, chips or repairs to the scale. The working parts function smoothly with the two sides going up and down like a teeter-totter. This is truly a lovely Antique late 19th Century Cast Iron Scale with its Original Factory Red Paint and Brass Pan which looks great, works perfect and makes a striking display.
