Don't know much about this category but I bought this from a trustworthy and knowledgeable dealer I have know for many years. He guaranteed this to be late 19th century. I will say 1880 - 1910 just to be safe.It is a man/driver of either a buggy or some other horse-drawn vehicle. I cannot tell if it was ever painted - it might have been black although it looks like the original natural finish to me. I believe this is the original finish. His features are exceptional. Great definition in his face, his clothes and even the heels of his shoes. The two sides are held together with a rivit. It has a great patina. Condition is as found and as shown. I would say excellent. He is about 3&1/4" from the top of his hat to his feet. He has a 1/4" pole that sits in the seat of whatever he drove. The width of the pole is about 1/8." He actually fits perfectly in the fire hook and ladder I am selling but he has a bowler hat and tie on so I doubt he originally drove a fire truck. Please check out a 19th or 20th century sulky and a 19th century fire hook and ladder truck from the same source. US ship only. Thanks for looking!
