WORLD CLASS ANTIQUE KARACHOPT KAZAK , circa 1880, square Measures 6.8x7.4. The unusual green field against the red medallion and the ivory, blue and yellow details is stunning. Very even, low pile with a few professional areas of re-piling, probably done in the mid 20th century. Beautiful Beetle border, which is very rare and seems to have fallen out of favor in later rugs. Very minimal design, not overcrowded, a true tribal work of art. This rug is very early, has natural dyes, very fine weave for this type and unusual square size. This is a museum quality all wool rug. Some rugs of this type have sold in the finer auction houses for well over 5 figures. This is the real thing and not a reproduction rug.
