The size is 42” x 88” This “met hane” open blue field Talish rug that dates from the mid-nineteenth century is one of the most sought after Caucasian rugs. This Talish is notable in that it also has the true and characteristic Talish main border, whereas most of the open field rugs from this region have some variant of a “crab” border. The green medallions of the Talish border are particularly nice. It is in excellent condition for a rug that is around 150 years of age, having uniformly full low pile on the entire rug, without threadbare places. There are a number of expertly rewoven places, both in the borders and the field. Approximately nine rows of knots of secondary guard borders have been rewoven at each end. The first photo, taken in bright outdoor natural light gives good indication of the general overall rug, and other photos show details of the general pile and condition, including the reweave of the end guard borders.There is no “touch-up paint on the rug, and no threadbare areas. To the best of my ability the photos and this description give clear indication of the condition and character of this wonderful Talish.
