Fine antique centennial reproduction of an 18th century Chippendale camel back sofa. Provenance: Stinson Auctions--purchased for $2090 in 1994. Note the beautiful mahogany legs with ball and claw feet, the fine proportions and dramatic shape. Bench made sofas of this quality rarely come up for sale. Sofa dimensions: Height: 38.5 inches Depth: 30 inches Length: 78 inches
While the sofa is solid and completely sound, it is ready to be reupholstered. As you can see in the pictures there is wear to the fabric and the seat has been covered with a piece of similar fabric that is been tacked and pinned onto the sofa. Although I have not looked under the fabric, it does appear to have horse hair stuffing that is commensurate with its age. Once it is reupholstered you will have a piece of furniture that is comparable to the finest reproductions made today, but at a much lower cost. Pick up or you arrange for shipping . We live about 15 minutes from the in tersection of Rt. 91 and the Massachusetts Turnpike near the city of Springfield, Massachusetts. 1.5 to 2 hours from the Boston area, 1.5 hours from Albany, 1 hour from Hartford and about 3 hours from New York City. If you want to have it shipped, my suggestion is to try the company listed below. I sold a large, heavy dining room table a few months ago and they shipped it out to California for a little over $200. This is much less than many other services would charge and I was impressed by their care in packing the table. At Your Service Transportation, Inc.
