On offer is this very attractive "Saunders' of Liverpool" toothpaste Jar/container. It is also matched with it's original base section with the "Saunders" name embossed on the bottom (pic.4 ) Please check pics.3 & 4 for the few chips...almost all unsighted when lid is in place on the base.
The transfer is really neat. This one's transfer is distinct, dark, with excellent contrast....note the main product title which is printed intaglio (white against black background) which is much less common! The face is framed in a great "Greek key design", border surround. The advertising transfer is under glaze. All round, a very good looker! It measures 2 1/2" square. For viewers who may not be familiar with these delightful little jars....they were used in an approx. 80 year window over the Victorian period and ending around the time of WW1. These type of containers were made redundant by cheaper forms of packaging and we have been left with these reminders of skilled workmanship and detailed and attractive advertising. Over the years the containers have become highly sought after collectibles. Be assured, this is a genuine and authentic period piece of over 100 years old. (ca.1900) Overseas bidders are welcome, but please note, seller is not responsible for duties or taxes which may be levied by import authorities of countries outside the U.S. I complete U.S. custom forms accurately.
