Antique Limoges France desk set with 4 blotter corners, blotter, covered trinket box, covered 3 compartment box and pen/letter opener tray. This is a very bewildering set and I spent hours trying to research it. The tray is marked JPL France while the covered trinket box is marked CFH GDM France. There are no markings on the other pieces. Both are also marked with a crown and what appears to either say Berlin, or Berline. After much research, this is what I found. Both markings date back to the late 19th century and depending on who was painting the piece, they could have different markings but still be a part of the same set. I tried to find out what the crown and Berlin marking is but it was not listed anywhere under a porcelain directory of different crown markings. However, the crown was used similar as a trademark symbol and so therefore it was very common for distributors to stamp items as they arrived. I can not say for certain that is the case. I can only relay my findings. The blotter corners have been affixed to the rubber matting so it will be up to you to remove them if you wish. The blotter and 3 compartment box are in excellent condition and the trinket box is in very good condition with only minor paint loss. The tray does show age wear, however none of the pieces have any chips, cracks or breakage that I could find.
