This auction is for an antique Chelsea weight drive regulator clock made by the Chelsea Clock Company, and purchased by the New York Board of Education. The clocks purchased by the New York City school system had the dials replaced with ones that are marked Board of Education New York. I have seen these Chelsea NY school clocks before over the years, but they don't turn up very often. The clock is in average used condition and appears to have been refinished once, years ago. The movement is marked Chelsea Clock Co. Boston USA serial # 17816. The movement is in excellent condition. The clock has a large cast iron weight that slides down a channel behind the pendulum, similar to the Howard model 70. The dial glass has a crack going half way across so should be replaced. This clock measures 34" tall and the outside of the top door dimension is 15 3/8." The dial opening is 11 7/8." This is a great clock for the Chelsea clock collector and is an impressive piece that you will be proud to own.Buyer pays actual shipping and insurance by UPS.
