This unusual basket comes from the estate of a long-time collector of Cherokee baskets. This style is different from other wall baskets that I have seen made by the Cherokee tribe in North Carolina. He purchased many of his baskets directly from the makers but didn't remember who had made this one. Great patina has developed on this dyed oak splint which forms a nice pattern. The unusual shaped back is rounded at the top and has an opening for hanging. The basket will not sit up on its own. Measures 12" high at the back, 9" wide, 4" deep. Excellent condition except for one broken splint on the wrapping on the upper edge, one on the back and one on the side at the back. Please ask any questions.
