SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR AN EVER CHANGING VARIETY OF UNIQUE ANTIQUE AND COLLECTIBLES AS CAN BE SEEN IN MY PHOTOS ABOVE! ~ This RARE CHERRY DROP FRONT DESK with glass door top is gorgeous in it's original GRAIN PAINTED FINISH ~ Made of Cherry with spool turned legs and RARE hand-made "Tramp Art" molding. The desk is two pieces and steps back at the top with two glass doors and two drawers above a seperate drop front bottom. It has two drawers below the glass doors and arched compartments inside w you will find another small drawer. Beneath the drop front secion t is a drawer that goes all the way across the front with two wood pull outs with brass knobs that keep the lid in place when open. I love the look of the beautiful spool turned legs. The old original mustard over red grain painting was done in a wood grain effect. The piece has super original patina showing off it's crown molding with extra mitered overhang and "Tramp Art" trim. The old wood grain paint really highlights all the desks best features. The desk is in overall EXCELLENT condition. It dates to the mid 1800s and is all original with the exception of one piece of glass at the top which appears to have been replaced. The bottom front drawer is pegged through the front with wooden pegs and all the drawers are dovetailed at the sides. The entire piece is pegged which you can make out in a few places along the sides just under the original grain painted finish. T are the usual age drying cracks and some wear to the old grain painted finish, all of which are in keeping with this piece and it's age and use. The two piece desk stands with top on, 6' tall and is 19 1/2" deep at the bottom. It is 37" wide at the widest point across the top at the upper molding overhang. The top alone is 33" wide across the front below the molding and is 13 1/2" deep not including the molding overhang.
