ANTIQUE QING DYNASTY BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN PLATE MEASURES 10 1/2" DIA 1 7/8" DEEP AND 6 5/8" AT FOOT. This large hand painted antique earl Qing Dynasty blue and white Chinese porcelain plate it is hand signed underfoot in blue and has a few manufacturing defects like black flea bite marks from impurities in kiln and age related wear, fading and patina, it has one chip on inside of foot (see photo 12) and no cracks. Other then that it is a beautiful plate in very good condition for it's age. PLEASE EXAMINE PHOTO'S VERY CLOSELY FOR CONDITION OF THIS ITEM BEFORE BIDDING.

W hen we put an antique item up for auction it is at least 100years old some are much older and some are rare to very rare. Many may have a few or a lot of manufacturing defects and must were used by their owner's 100years ago or more until who knows when or by how many owners. Of course these owners had no idea the screen, chest, dish, bowl, vase, etc.... would someday be of value to a collector and most show signs of wear from this use and age. We do our very best to give you the best detailed description of an item we can if it has chips, cracks, etc., etc.... we list them. We will always give the buyer the benefit of any research we have done on an items and sometimes we spend hours in book's or on the Internet researching items and adding to our knowledge. If we make a statement of period made, c. date, etc. it is to the best of our knowledge and research as to when and where it was made and research by it's nature is never done or perfect and we are always learning. If your have knowledge and research that will can help us to better serve you, enlighten us and better serve others we very much welcome your kind thoughtful input. PORCELAIN: In the case of Chinese and Japanese porcelain's, earthen ware, etc.......... these antique item's were made with primitive technology by today standards and it is amazing to me how beautifully made they are and what great condition they are in for their age. Most items made for the nobility were of high quality and more refined then the item's made for the common people and many have manufacturing defects like material that got in bedded in the glaze from impurities or material like sand in bedded on the foot of an item, etc. all from the the kiln. Some of the time a person can very easily mistake a defect where a item was hand trimmed for a chip on the rim or foot and in the case of the rim and sometimes on the foot it will be covered with glaze, if there are chips, cracks, etc. we will list it as one. These manufacturing defects are another way to help arrive at time period an item was manufactured as well as any seal or signature underfoot, impressed mark, etc...... but in the case of some very old item's Ming Dynasty, etc..... it's was actually called Medieval times in most of the world, and mankind was actually trying things out, that they were about to do for the very first time. So, there were no set rules to a lot of things. Like what requirement you need to have on porcelain that we would be examining about half a millennium la ter. Th ere was just no set requirements a plate bowl, vase, etc..... have a mark, stamp, seal, signature . so we have to relay on the careful study of all technical and artistically features as well as defects in manufacturing and then use our best guess as to time period made . For example an item made in the early(1650 1735) to middle (1736-1861) Qing Dynasty.
