ANTIQUE CORAL SILK CHINESE ROBE BUTTERFLY/BAMBOO EMBROIDERY Butterflies and florals are the theme of the embroidery on this stunning Victorian Chinese Robe. It has gold metal cloisonné ball buttons that look like real gold. The damask has a ball pattern in it with intricate Chinese characters. The panels are framed with handmade silk ribbon with blue butterflies and green and chartreuse accents. The outer edge is embroidered with flowers, birds and other Chinese symbols. The leaves have another type of embroidery including butterflies and flowers. This one is really rich in texture and color. This was brought back on one of many business trips by the L.V. Collings, Vice-President and General Counsel, of the Standard Vacuum Oil company (now ESSO) in the 1950's. He and his wife traveled extensively in the Orient and Asia, bringing back many antiques and textiles.Measurements: Bust: 54” Length back neck to hem: 54” CONDITION: Excellent though there is slight wear around the neck and under the armpit, and edges of sleeves and one small hole under the armpit. The embroidery is amazing, and it is overall in very good condition for its age.. CONDITION: All items are cleaned, unless noted, and leave from a smoke free environment.
