Antique Chinese Fine Silk Embroidery Piece Circa 1900-1920s Offered is a FANTASTIC piece of Antique Chinese Fine Silk Embroidery Piece Circa 1900-1920s is Size 16" X 68". The vignette is a vase with floral with a double fish motif in the middle, a bowl of fruit at the bottom and butterflies and florals at the top. The artistry is intricate, delicate and masterful and the colors and fine silk is still gorgeous. The background is a cream silk and the colors are oranges, blues greens and golds. This piece (along with a number of others that will be put on) comes from a collection of textiles owned by the wife of a prominent family in Washington , DC . It was originally owned by her mother, an Oklahoma Oil Heiress and loks to be from her later life just after the turn of the century. It is edged with black silk abd has a backing that is a cotton fabric of some kind meant to maintain the piece. It has been held in storage, as has the whole collection, for many years. This piece has few anomolies, some very tiny stains and some minor fraying of the black silk esdge on the corners of one end. This brilliant and beautiful piece has incredible workmanship. I have included a picture of the back of the embroidery from the top of the piece to show that it is almost as beautiful in the back as the front. The tiny silk threads used for this piece are soft as a cloud. For the collector or the decorator, this is a wonderful find!
