Having a Brass Base/plateau with Black Enamel that was engraved with a scene and then hand painted, the fine Desk Ink Well Stand/standish is of Chinese origin. It has a brass pen holder and the 4 feet are paws. The base has a reticulated brass frame. The attached hinged Inkwell is Cloisonne with Bats at the top of the shoulder along with flowers with what appears to be a Greek Key type cloisonne ground. All of the decoration is enamel within fine brass wire. The Brass hinged lid is also reticulated and engraved. Inside the Inkwell is what appears to be a pewter ink reservoir. The underside of the stand is also black enamel.
