Antique Chinese Export Painting Gouache Pith Paper 19TH We are pleased to offer this attractive antique Chinese painting on pith paper. It depicts a Chinese gentleman with his attendant, in vivid colors. It most likely dates to the 19th century. It is framed and under glass. The frame measures about 14 1/2" x about 11 1/2". The paper the painting is on, measures a little under 10" x a little under 7". It has not been examined out of the frame. There is some minor staining and discoloration to the paper ( including a small stain at the attendants feet ) and as is often the case with this type of painting, there are some tears in the paper. One tear travels under the gentlemans feet, from the left side of the painting to under his front chair leg and then down to the bottom of the painting. There is another tear which travels from the right side of the painting through and just beyond the attendants feet. There is also a vertical tear in this area, it is very hard to see. There is also a small tear at the bottom of the gentlemans robe. These tears are very common with this type of painting and do little to detract from this paintings overall appearance.
