Antique Chinese Pleated Silk Embroidered Peony Butterfly Han Women Skirt This antique Chinese pleated silk embroidered peony butterfly Han women's skirt dates from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is hand stitched, made of a dark midnight blue silk damask woven brocade fabric with a floral butterfly pattern design. There are two matching embroidered apron panels on the front and back which have a bright yellow green chartreuse color and multicolor raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work design of peony flowers and butterflies which are both symbols of love and affection. The skirt has hidden embroidered side pleating, pink, blue silk damask ribbon and black silk trim edging. This amazing Han women's early wrap around style apron wedding skirt has a wide blue band sewn along the mid top and a linen elastic waistband sewn onto the top which was added later, with hook closures and is fully lined in a blue silk fabric inside. The skirt measures 38 1/2 inches long, with a 63 inch wide wrap around waistband. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a rare and wonderful piece of wearable antique Chinese textile art!
