This is a wonderful Chinese porcelain garden seat. It is an example of Rose Medallion Chinese porcelain made for the export market. The porcelain was made at the Imperial kilns at Jingdezhen and shipped to canton for decoration. From t it was exported to the West. This is sometimes referred to as Caonton porcelain. This piece is is a wonderful example, and in the upper range for this pattern. The age is not known by me, possibly late 19th Century or early 20th. It came from an estate in Pasadena, Ca. It does have one mark about 3" on it that is from a paint splatter or magic marker, as seen in I believe the second picture. I did not want to try and clean it, as I am no expert. It measures 19" high, 12" across the top seat and approximately 14" across the "belly". It has no chips or breaks or cracks. It does have an array of beautiful colors, with various scenes of people and birds and floral throughout. A wonderful additon to any collection. The actual shipping cost will be determined by w you live, not by the automatic Ebay shipping calculator, which does not come out correctly most of the time. Enjoy. After the last question and answer concerning the green paint on the Chinese seat, I got brave and took a cotton cloth and got it a little wet and put some dish soap on it and mildly rubbed the aforementioned green paint. It began to come off right away, and slowly I mildly rubbed over the green paint as mentioned and it slowly started to come off. The chicken I am, I stopped out of fear of not knowing what I was doing, though no ill effects, just wanted all to know that it was removing quite easily, and I imagine with patience and not wanting to "rub hard" it will come off with no problem. But I'll wait for better suggestions during the auction, and if none, I'll continue till it is gone. I just didn't want anyone to worry it was permanent. Rest easy.
