NO RESERVE for a very handsome antique Chinese toad- or frog-form figural water dropper. SIGNATURES: Appears unmarked on my honest inspection, but clearly early Chinese work. COLOR: Monochrome glaze in a very deep reddish-brown allover. PROVENANCE: From a "Summer Warehouse Clearance/Tag Sale" event that one of our most luxe Dallas auction houses recently held. AGE: Old collector's jelly labels on the underside of this piece date it to the early 1700s [see pics]. I didn't have an opportunity to discuss this piece with one of the auction house's specialists at the time I acquired it, but I have been buying Chinese antiques for many years [see some of my prior auctions] and I *do* think the pre-1800 date is really correct on this piece. I know it can be very hard to judge the age of monochrome pottery long-distance and I don't want you to be disappointed, so I do offer a *no questions asked* return policy [see below] available to all buyers worldwide. However, check out the pics and I really don't think you're going to want to give this back. CONDITION: Excellent condition, as shown. NO chips, cracks, missing pieces, or repairs. Very minor wear only; nothing concerning and nothing that a collector would consider actual damage. I include precision pics taken in strong light from every possible angle and the pics are very honest read more
