This is a gorgeous circa 1860 Civil War Era Rocker, in the style of what many call a "Lincoln Rocker". The chair is made of rosewood, and is in excellent original condition. The original patina is still intact and the fabric on the seat seems to be original as well, or extremely old. When you turn the rocking chair over, the runners show that the piece was originally dowel pinned together, and from one or more of the photos, you can even see the original pins. The runners also seem to be original, and other than being a bit worn from 140+ years of rocking, are in great original condition. The rocker is EXTREMELY comfortable, and my children have loved it as a place to sit and read over the past decade or more. I also have a Civil War Era Settee set, including the settee, larger rocker, and side chair, all with the very same style, also made of rosewood, and in absolute superb condition. One can be seen in early photos of the Lincoln bedroom in the White House, as well as scattered throughout the home. I have shown what the bottom side looks like, with its original heavy springs and original stuffing under the cushion. The piece will have to be crated and shipped if not picked up in person. This will be the responsibility of the buyer, and crating will run $50, with shipping to be determined by the zip code of destination.
