HOT COALS WOULD BE PLACED INSIDE THE PULL OUT DRAWER. THEN THE UNIT COULD BE PLACED ON THE FLOOR WHERE YOU COULD REST YOUR FEET TO KEEP THEM WARM. IN ADDITION, A BLANKET COULD BE PLACED OVER THE UNIT AND YOUR FEET TO KEEP ALL OF YOU WARM. IT HAS A PULLOUT DRAWER ON ONE SIDE AND ADJUSTABLE VENTS ON 2 OTHER SIDES.
