Glass / Ball Claw Foot Antique Piano Stool from Brooklyn Iowa Masonic Lodge Perhaps the reason this beautiful stool is in such good shape is because it sat in Brooklyn 's Masonic Lodge for over one hundred years! It probably was only used for special occasions. We recently rescued it when the Lodge furnishings were disassembled, and now it is offered to raise funds for a new furnace in our local history museum. As with any antique, this item exhibits some wear marks indicating its many years of use. That said, this lovely old stool is in very good condition for its age! The mahogany seat has a deep rich patina. You can see that the joined wood seam line in the seat is tight and secure, and shows no signs of cracking. The round swivel seat is 14 ½ inches in diameter. It moves easily and adjusts from 19 inches to 24 inches high. The underside of the swivel seat screw reads, "Tonk - Chicago & New York ." The stool is sturdy and sits solidly on four legs, which have a cross stretcher. Each foot has a beautiful clear-glass ball foot wrapped by a metal claw. The glass balls have no chips or cracks. If only this pretty little stool could talk, it could tell us a lot about the town's history that we've worked so hard to record and preserve! This item is available only through the Brooklyn Historical Society, with all proceeds benefiting read more
