This is an outstanding Antique Cobalt Blue Porcelain Enamel Washboard dated 1915. The washboard is a SOAP SAVER originally offered in the Sears Roebuck Mail Order Catalog in 1899. The front clearly reads across the top "NATIONAL WASHBOARD CO., CHICAGO-SAGINAW-MEMPHIS, SOAP SAVER, TRADEMARK REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. MADE IN U.S.A. NO. 197, PAT. SEPT. 7, 1915".As the photos show this washboard is in very good condition and the deep cobalt blue porcelain color is absolutely stunning. The upper metal and lower cobalt blue scrubbing board have no cracks or dents. T are 3 minor chips to the porcelain which are hard to notice due to the dark aging of the metal beneath (please see last close-up photo). The wood has no chips or splits and shows expected age cracks from time. The washboard is very clean and both the wood and the metal have that wonderful rich looking patina from age. The washboard measures 24-1/2" high x 12-1/2" wide x 2-1/8" deep at the very top. This is truly an outstanding Antique Cobalt Blue Porcelain Enamel Washboard dated 1915 which makes a striking display.
