Antique colored Fashion print-1904 Le Bon Ton Magazine
I found a large group of fashion prints from the 1890's and early 1900's from the popular French fashion magazine, Le Bon Ton. They were probably a competitor to Godey Magazines and had the same type of fashion prints, but in a larger format. One difference in the prints was that the Godey prints were chromolithographs and these are not. My Mom used to sell these in her antique shop and they were very popular. I don't know a lot about it the magazine, other than it was a well known fashion magazine of the day. The magazine was published by S.T. Taylor Company of New York and had been published since 1851.
This full page fashion print is of an elegant yellow dress with lace overlays at the collar and on the sleeve tops. The dress has 3/4 length sleeves with lots of lace at the bottom of the sleeve. The skirt is pleated and has a lot of decorative stitching. The woman is wearing a straw hat with pink flowers and is holding a pink parasol as well. The picture also has a small back view of the dress in the upper left hand corner. The print is from August 1904.
This print measures 11 1/4" x 15 3/4" and is in very good-excellent condition overall. The colors are very bright and clear. The print has no foxing. The print is unframed and would be wonderful framed.
