up for your consideration is an Antique Graphophone manufactured by the American Graphophone Company and sold by Columbia Records , housed in a handsome Oak Case. It remains in pretty good condition mostly intact however is in need of some TLC and restoration. It appears t are a few parts missing, i.e. the music cylinder, the arm piece, the horn and the key is what is immediately evident are missing, however I am no authority on graphophones so please take a good look at the close up photos. What is shown in the photos is what is included in the auction. Also, the original leather belt remains however is torn, as shown. The front graphics on the wood case read; "The Graphophone - Patented May 4, 1886, Dec. 27, 1887, April 3, 1888, June 10, 1890, Oct. 15, 1894, March 20, 1897 - Columbia Phonograph Co. - New York - Parios - Berlin". The round circular graphic on the back side of the case reads; "The Graphophone and Columbia Records were awarded The Grand Prize at the Paris Exposition of 1900". The side metal pieces of the graphophone reads as follows: "The Graphophone - Type Q - Patented May 4, 1866, Dec 27, 1887, Apr. 3, 1888, June 10, 1890, Oct. 18, 1894, Mar. 30, 1897, Aug. 13, 1901, Aug. 20, 1901 - American Graphophone Company, New York, NY", and the the circular portion reads; "Columbias Phonograph Co. - Sole Sales Agent for The American Graphophone Co. - Paris, Berlin, Chicago, St. Louis, Philadelphi, Washington, Baltimore, San Francisco, New York, NY - USA" The inside of the oak case has most of the original paper product information tag remaining which reads; "Type QC - This Graphophone is manufactured by The American Graphophone Co. under certain ...and licensed and sold through ...sales agent, the Columbia Graphophone ....." It goes on to state "..the price throughout the United States is $8.50. No sale is authorized and no license is granted to use this Graphophone when sold below this price. Any violation of any such conditions or restrictions makes the seller or user liable as an infringer of said patents. American Graphophone Company". Most of the gold paper product sticker remains on the top base of the graphophone however t is a small portion Missing, as shown. The Graphophone Oak Case measures approx. 10 1/4" across x 7" x 6 1/4" and it includes an oak handle and it's original metal hardware.
