Here is avery nice antique and complete hydrometer, thermometer, weights, beaker and magnifier set from the well known London maker W. Reeves and Co. This set, I think, dates from the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. It is complete, with all the weights and is unusual in that it is a smaller "pocket size" and also has the glass beaker and small magnifier - which many sets do not have. The robust box is made from wood with a leatherette type covering which is now quite worn, with fraying, wear and small bits and pieces of the leatherette worn away. However the box is still sound and strong with a working press catch fastening. The interior is lined in somewhat faded blue satin and velvet. It has a bone or early celluloid backed thermometer that appears to be in working condition. The hydrometer itself measures 4.5 inches (11.2 cm), and the box 5 inches (12.9 cm) by 4 inches (10 cm). This would make a stunning display item amongst a collection of scientific item, in a kitchen etc. Please do remember that the box is rather worn, but I have priced the set taking this into account. A NOTE REGARDING POSTAGE: Unfortunately, Royal Mail has recently put upall their prices. Postage is calculated by weight of the packed item and Royal Mail are still the best value option in most cases. Please read the information below regarding
