This old fashioned cook stove appears to be straight out of "Little House on the Prairie". To give you an idea of its size, look at the bottom of the main gallery picture, you can see my glasses to get an idea of the size of the miniature treasure! It may be tiny, but it has everything for cooking on a wood stove, such as those used before natural gas or electricity made modern ranges possible. The only identifying mark on it is the word ACME, on the side panel. It has a damper inside to control the draft for the fire. The doors open and close. T are iron utinsels, a big kettle, frying pans and even a little coal or wood bucket. The cooking surfaces are removable. Was it a toy made for little girls in the 18th century to play house? Maybe. But another guess is that it is a "Jobbers" sample. The entire stove is less than a foot high and weighs about 20 pounds. Chances are it was carried by traveling salesmen to sales prospects to show the quality and style of the full size cook stoves which weighed hundreds of pounds. This unusual treasure belongs to a neighbor in her 80s who remembers her Mother having it as a child and the Mother was the child of a man who owned a large mercantile store in the town w I live, which operated from civil war times until the early 20th century. The stove is in good shape, appears to have been painted silver, which shows some slight signs of peeling. It is also evident from soot in the firing chamber t has been a fire in it. The entire stove, utinsels, etc. are in good shape. If you're a collector of 18th century americana, you're already salivating. If you have never seen anything like it before, you're probably fascinated by it. It comes close to being small enough to fit in a large flat rate priority mail box, but not quite. Shipment will be parcel post. I would estimate shipping costs to the farthest end of the USA will be less than $30.00.
