Today for your consideration is a really sweet ladies drop front desk, sometimes call a secretary. This set is really unique. It has the Cottage Chic look but was never intended to end up that way. It has many layers of old crackled & chippy paint. This is not something someone set out to make it look like but a true Shabby & not so chic look to it. The patina of both pieces is amazing The antique desk is (believe it or not) OAK! The little cubby holes are not oak but the desk itself is. As seen in the inside of the desk. This sweet little piece has the traditional Queen Ann legs that gently bow out & then back in. The one large outside drawer has a unique dovetailing & a key hole but unfortunately no key. The drawer has kind of a serpentine front or bows out to give the piece the unique look. It was probably made at the turn of the century judging by it's style. The old piano stool that matches in that creamy white paint also thick with layers of old paint is actually probably 1880's era. I believe it to be also oak & I doubt was ever imagined it would be used at a desk but here there are together as the odd couple. Marriages often bring 2 unlikely things together. Being a small ladies desk, it can slip in easily just about anywhere.As you can see, it has a lot of stains, some maybe able to sand out but some may not be able too & in that case I would simply recomend another coat of paint to include the inside. I hope you noticed the claw feet & glass ball feet with gold paint trim. This is just the perfect Shabby Cottage Chic pair. Both pieces are for one price. The piano stool has lots of patina & loads of charm but unfortunately can not be shipped. So this is a PICK UP ONLY auction from Olympia,Washington. They are heavy oak pieces & I can not help move them so please bring your own helpers. Sold as-is. In the next few days I will be listing antique Furniture items too.
