This auction is for an Antique Crystal Wedding / Anniversary Compote made by the Adams / US Glass Company in the early 1900's. It is listed in The Wallace-Homestead Guide to Antiques from 1971 as a covered, high standard, Crystal Wedding / Anniversary Compote. This is truley an awesome blast from the past and something I do not know if is still done because I've never seen it happen, but the bride and groom were served their pieces of wedding cake in this. (In this case it was their anniversary cake). The top comes off and is placed underneath the base giving it a really elegant look. Please view picture 2 for this. This item is in excellent condition. Not a chip or crack and I find that amazing for an item this old. Some of the gold has worn however I'll bet this could be touched up to look just as elegant as the day it was made. I acquired this from a lady years ago and she said her mother used this on her Anniversary. She (91 years old at the time) unfortunately is gone now so I cannot ask her any thing more about this. I wish the pictures showed exactly the awesome detail of this. It measures just over 8 inches tall with the lid on and is 5 inches in diameter. Please email with any questions and I also have a few other pics if desired. Comes from a smoke free, temperature controlled environment. I pack in regards to the fact that I would want the utmost care given to a safe arrival should this item be a treasure that I purchased. Plenty of bubble wrap and a sturdy box.
