Antique DAR Sterling Silver Spoon J.E. Caldwell & Co Spoon is 5 3/4" Long J.E. Caldwell & Co. Philadelphia, PA-jeweler, silversmith, antiquarian since 1839. This Commerative Spoon is a DAR-Daughters of the American Revolution, Home and Country Sterling Silver Spoon. It has great Art Nouveau detailing and scrollwork. The picture depicts a woman sitting at a spinning wheel; the top of the spoon handle is decorated with a flowing "ribbon" that says "Home and Country" and t are stars underneath. The DAR was founded in 1890 as a Women's Service Organization promoting patriotism and preserving the History of our Country. The bowl of the spoon has some scrollwork also. The scrolled ribbons form the letters D-A-R in elegant script. The back of the spoon has a regal American Eagle at the top. T is a space for a monogram and this has the letters ES. This was my Aunt who was born in 1925 in MO and this was a gift from her Grandmother, a member of the DAR. The overall condition is very good, no silver loss. At the tip of the spoon bowl the point feels rough, this seems like a manufacturing issue rather than damage; just my thought. I apologize for the pictures, the camera doesn't do it much justice.(maybe it is the photgrapher) The Spoon is in great shape( read flaw above) Any comments or questions are always welcome. drest best Pa yment Instructions read more
