Beautiful Antique Decorum Book 1878. Blue cloth cover with slight wear and boldly raised picture of a Victorian lady on the front. This rare book is titled: DECORUM A Practical Treastise On Etiquette and Dress of the Best American Society. This etiquette book was sold only by subscription from the J.A. Ruth & Co of Chicago in 1878. and entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1877 by J.A. Ruth & Co. In the office of the Librarian of Congress, at Washington. Book pages has a few age spots on some of the pages, but I understand this can be easily cleaned. Other then that the book is complete, solid, and in very fine condition. Has 352 pages and measures: 5 1/2 x 8 inches. First two pages has pencil writing on them and it shows in the last photo. Contents of this book covers: Entrance into Society, Introductions, Salutations, Social Intercourse, Conversation, Visits, Dinner Prties and Balls, Street Etiquette, Riding and Driving, Traveling, Etiquette of Publice Places, Letter Writing, Courtship and Mrriage, Domestic Etiquette and Duties (Duties of the Wife) interesting, Table Etiquette, Miscellaneous Rules of Etiquette, Washington Etiquette, Business, Anniversary Weddings, Funerals, Dress, Harmony of Color in Dress, Toilette (Includes health and beauty), Toilette Recipes ( includes many cures and hints from wrinkles to pimples, to cleaning the teeth, and cleaning jewlery as well as many others. This book is a jewel and interesting to read on how manners and social conduct was to be conducted by both men and women in the 1800's. I'm pricing this book well below the true value of it's worth and other such books on decorum and etiquette compared to it's age and condition.
