Up for bid is a sweet little "Minerva" tin head antique doll, 12" tall, tin shoulderhead, dolly face, open mouth (no teeth), glass eyes (not painted on), with wig (appears to be original), kid body with rivets at hips, cloth legs, cloth feet to look like shoes, bisque wrist & hands, painted eyebrows and lashes. Made by Bushow & Beck Co., marked on back "Germany 1", marked on front "Minerva" over a helmet. Light green off-the-shoulder dress, with shamrock designs and attached flowers, undershirt, and pantaloons included. Buschow & Beck purchased an established sheet metal business in 1890, their "Minerva" trademark is so well known that it became the standard for any metal head doll. The sweet face is nicely painted, all the clothing is sewn by hand, the body needs a bit of cleaning (I will leave that to the experts), the dress is a bit faded from age. T is a speck on the left cheek--which is a paint speck, crazing to face which I can only see using a magnifying glass. Very nice condition. Bisque hands are excellent, just need a little cleaning. Payment or arrangements are expected within 48 hours of auctions end. I accept cashier's checks, personal checks, and Paypal. Buyer pays postage and $2.00 for packaging and handling; Insurance if requested. Will ship worldwide. Please feel free to send me a email if you have any questions. read more
