Antique double brass inkwell with pen holder with pen holder and little compartment, and a pencil area. It is quite large - 14" by 9" and has two handles on the sides. It has 2 removable cut glass and brass inkwells. They have hinged tops, and one needs the glass top to be glued into the hinged brass top. They are in great shape - I noticed just a couple of teensy little nicks in the glass, but no cracks or chips. The center compartment top lifts off. T is a little holder which I think was for a feather. It has 4 legs so sits up 1 1/2" off the table top. The carving includes a bird on each side. It looks like it might have a copper bottom. It's a great piece and very heavy. It was part of my father in law's sister's estate. She was an avid collector and died 27 years ago at 79. So it is quite old.
