Being offered for your consideration is this beautiful 1880-1900 antique Pennsylvania quilt. This pattern is commonly known as the Double Irish Chain Pattern. I came across this one at an open air antique show locally. The quilt is in very good condition. T are no smells. T is some minor fading. The fading mostly occurs down the center on both the top and back of the quilts. T is some fading as well from one side to the middle, although VERY subtle and hardly noticeable.(Like someone left one side folded down and sun hit the other more often.) The colors are still incredibly vibrant and most of the fabric is still strong and sturdy. The reds are in excellent shape and look like it was hand dyed. The green fabric looks like it was hand dyed as well. The backing to the quilt has geometrical sps and circles very commonly found in the late 19th century. The edging is red and in excellent shape. The quilt looks like it was sewn by a machine but definetly quilted by hand. Some of the quilting has been pulled out but most of it is intact. The quilting looks like it was done by a more seasoned quilter and measures 8-9 spi. This quilt has a nice layer of batting inside and is a light to medium weight quilt. I have not washed this quilt but it feels very stiff and sturdy. The backing is a beautiful geometrical cotton fabric. The photo's read more
