Antique Early 1900s Iron Photo Splicer Cutter Eastman Kodak Rochester Optical I took a little R&R with my family and I have come back with a ton off new items to post this week. Wonderful primitive antiques, advertising, garden, uniques - you don’t want to miss! This old photo splicer/cutter is 100 years old, but it was built to last - and sure has - you could still use it today. What I have is an antique photo splicer - made from solid wood and iron, it is marked on the iron handle No. 1 R.O.C. for Rochester Optical Company, with a nunber 2125 on the underside, and then, stamped on the wood, "Made By Eastman Kokak Co., Rochester, N.Y. USA." Rochester Optical was purchased by Kodak in 1903, and they continued to use the Rochester name on the line until 1921. The wood top of the splicer has a square grid pattern on the wood, as well as a 1" to 6" ruler measurment on the top side. It measures 6" by 7" and the iron arm that slices measures 11 1/4" long. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition - and works great, too! At first, I thought that the blade felt dull (and maybe it is a little, and could use a sharpening) but, I have to tell you - it just sliced cleanly and evenly into a folded piece of computer paper here in my office - no problem - and it cut my leaf in half outside toot sweet!
