Click Images to Enlarge DESCRIPTION THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION !!! You are bidding on an Antique Oil Painting in Gilded & Carved Frame. This piece is a RARE FIND due to its size, age and beautyand is an Original Oil painting that was signed and dated on the back stretcher of a child from the mid 1800s that was signed by VERY WELL listed American artist Marie King (20th Century) who is listed in the Davenport and various other art indexes. This was beautifully done after a family relative as a child who lived between 1824-1866. This painting was dated and signed on the back stretcher from 1956 and was beautifully done with great detail in both color and clarity from the distinctive characteristics of the childs facial features and expressions down to the beautiful detail in the clothing of the early time period. Its an original oil on canvas and has beautifully done brush strokes and tonalism in the painting including the background which gives the appearance of a nice landscape in the surrounds of the painting with floral foliage accented throughout. The subject of the painting is a rare find. The artist was a TRUE MASTER, because we see great care and SKILL in the painting down to its finest details. With paintings of this caliber you can see the amount of care and attention the artist put into the piece and accomplished quite a bit T is beautiful age to the piece and has some old repairs and natural craquelure with some minor imperfections that may need some professional touch up at your discretion. The frame is beautifully gilded with floral carved detail throughout and also has gilt loss and wear with imperfections consistant with its age. Because of its size this is a BEAUTIFUL painting of Early Americana that brings us back to the early 1800s of Traditional American family values and is the artists form of expression is what brings this piece to such life with the beautiful color tones and the manner in which is was done can mean family values, or a childs innocence, peace, tranquility and many other things. The beauty of art is that t are many different ways you can look at this painting and the beauty of it is all in the eye of the beholder. This piece was VERY WELL made with quality that surpasses ANYTHING that is made today but Please understand that this is an antique and has some minor imperfections on it with its age as stated and shown in the pictures but overall its in excellent shape.
