This early document box looks to be from the 18th century but could also be from the first part of the 19th century. It is decorated with brass tacs, leather and a heavy painted cloth material. As you can see in the 7th photo the bottom exhibits small square nails. The inside paper lining is old but is from a later period than when the box was originially made. Out of all the brass tacs [and there many] only four are missing. Measures 9 inches wide, 5 inches high and 6 inches deep.
