This is a great civil war era Ironfront shelf clock. The original paint is mostly gone unfortunately but the mother of pearl is still present. The case is shinny as if someone may have given this a coat of clear to preserve the remaining finish. The label is what would be a correct replacement for this clock. I had one identical to this before and it had the same exact label but was original. The spade hands and fitting key are replacements and not original. Judging by the appearance of the rear feet I believe these have been replaced at some point as well. These are always mangled on these style clocks but they are usually built into the side case pieces and not separate as these are. The only other item worth noting is that t is a small 1/8 inch hole just above the actual hinge pin for some reason?? The dial is paper and looks original as does the rest of this. The movement is a very nice seldom seen signed "MORSE" hourly striking eight day running clean clock movement held in case by replaced wooden blocks. I took a closeup of a very nice old repair done to the time train gear. This clock measures 17-3/4 inches tall and 13-1/2 inches across the base and this sits about 3-1/2 inches deep. This clock has been in my collection for quite some time and has been running well and chiming as it should. You will be pleased with this very read more
