The top has a nice moulded edge above a decorative frieze with stopped fretwork decoration and reeding, all picked it out in a nice gilt style colouring. The four open shelves have a nail work moulded edge, flanked by reeded column sides, again picked out in gilt-work. The base has a simple moulded edge, with very attractive stile feet below. This is a very attractive and stylish book case, extremely well made and it has lots of very useful storage space for books or ornaments. The bookcase is in very good condition, commensurate with its age. It has some small knocks and scratches as you would expect to see in a piece of this age, bit this does not in our opinion detract from the piece in any way. If you are looking for a very attractive and useful floor standing bookcase then you may mot need to look any further. This bookcase would grace any home, either period or modern.
